How to Take Care of Your Painting part 3

My paintings are created with the quality products to withstand the test of time
At some point in the ownership of art on canvas, you might need to retighten it.
I have paintings over 25 years old and they are not sagging yet. Quality products used by artists is an important factor in how often you will have to do this.
You get what you pay for when you purchase art.
When you decide to buy art that is priced cheaply there is always a reason that it can be purchased for a low price. Ask questions of the artist or the gallery about the process the artist uses when creating their work.
My paintings are created using all quality products.
Artistic excellence is my primary goal when creating my paintings. I take the time and products to affix the collage securely and that have proven excellent with the test of time. Preparing a canvas before painting on it is also very important. And sealing it when it is finished is also a must to preserve everything included on the surface of the painting.
How to Retighten a Canvas on its Stretcher Bars:
This happens over time and can be remedied quickly using the following method.
Personally, my advice is to hire a professional to retighten a painting that is large and dear to you.
This method will not damage the painting. Canvas is a fabric and the weave of canvas can become loosened over time. This is a natural happening with canvas and should not worry you that your painting is defective.
Use a spray bottle filled with plain water and spray lightly the entire back of the painting. Then put the painting in the sun for several hours to dry thoroughly.
I will be writing a post soon on the questions to ask before purchasing a painting. Be sure to look for it.
