Hanging Paintings? My Top 3 Hanger Choices
Over the past several years there have been many new hangers & hooks on the market for putting up paintings and other art on your walls.
The weight of the painting I am hanging determines the type of hanger I will use. But it is so easy to hang all sizes of paintings because they have created so many hangers in a variety of weight choices.
At one time, to hang a painting over 10 lbs was a major process.
And sometimes it became a 2-man process. You had to have all kinds of large weight nails and stud finders and all kinds of equipment to hang them. And once finished, you had to hope that your calculations were correct.
Now, with a selection of simple hanging solutions and no fear of taking the plaster off the wall if you choose the wrong size nail, it becomes a job anyone can handle.
Below is a handy checklist for you to take with you when shopping for those hangers.

The top 2 hangers are for the heavier paintings. The 1st hook, The Monkey Hook, is fantastic to use because it is so easy. I have used them up to 35 lbs. and found that they really do the job.
The High and Mighty Hangers are good too and I have used them for hanging up to 20 lbs. But both type hangers come in sizes to hang heavier paintings also.
The Command Hangers for lighter paintings are my favorite because they come off with no hole to patch. They leave your wall in the same condition it was in before you hung anything on it. I love that and you will too. I have hung the 24" X 24" canvas painting above with the Command 5 lb. weight hanger. It has been hanging for over a year and still holding firm.
These type of hangers can be purchased at most hardware stores.
I found that Lowes and Home Depot have a big variety of sizes, styles and price ranges by different manufacturers. So go take a look and don't be hesitant about hanging those paintings anymore. You can do it yourself in no time at all.
P. S. Also, make sure you wire your painting with strong wirefor the weight of the painting.
